I saw this posting on Facebook last night mentioning the crazy things yoga teachers say.
Just one example
The thing I find funny about this, is some of the sayings don’t seem SO “ludicrous” to me…probably because I’m a yoga teacher. I haven’t ever actually said these things, but I know I probably have said similar things such as “watch the tension melt away”.
In yoga teacher training, we discussed falling into the way a yoga teacher should sound and the fact that we aren’t being our authentic selves when this happens. If you feel funny saying something or know your students aren’t responding to something you said, you probably shouldn’t be saying it. Just be yourself.
This helps me to realize where I can improve – for my students – as a teacher. I know I just recently began teaching, but I feel that sometimes when I’m on autopilot this language comes out. It’s when I’m not 100% present.
So what I take away (surprisingly) from this post, and hopefully you do, too, is to be present and authentic all the time. You don’t need to be a yoga teacher. You may be an athlete or an accountant, but be present and REAL.
Where do you notice you can improve on being present and authentic in life?
