The Running Bug

It’s crazy. I ran two half marathons last fall, and now I haven’t run in about five months.

The other day, I was on Nicole’s blog and saw that she loved Kara Goucher’s Running for Women: From First Steps to Marathons The Running Bug. I decided to add it to my Kindle Fire The Running Bug and check it out.

So I ran for the first time in five months Friday morning.

Not far. Not fast. But I ran.

I’m planning on running the Virginia Beach Rock n Roll half Marathon in September, so this is a start.

 

Why did I stop running?

After my half marathons, my hip and knee were in a great deal of pain. I slacked severely on strength training and yoga slash stretching when I was training, which was my downfall in both races. I could have done much better and continued to be able to run pain-free if I had followed my training plan strictly.

So, I did yoga. I got addicted. I began learning to teach yoga. It helped with both my body strength and my mental strength.

I missed running though, and Kara’s book made me feel excited to run again. I’m only slightly into it, but it’s a very inspiring read so far with awesome running tips!
