Now that it’s December, I have been thinking about the holiday season and gifts that I am going to make and give to my friends and family. Everyone is asked what they “want” or “need” around this time of the year. Naturally, I have thought about my fitness wants, and I am sure other fitness lovers would agree with me on receiving these fitness related gifts
.
This Nike Plus heart rate monitor is one that I have been itching for since Fitbloggin‘ when Taylor recommended it for half marathon training. It is said to be extremely accurate when calculation distance – my main need for a watch like this – and it even takes elevation into consideration. All workouts even sync onto your computer, which I think is great for tracking how far you’ve come over a period of time.
As you’ve noticed from a few of my recent posts over the last 2 months, I am yoga crazy. During classes, I have been using a free mat that I received from Fitbloggin’ in September. While it is great for occasional yoga goers and other at-home workouts, for an avid yoga goer it could use a little more grip. I tend to slide a bit.
After doing some research and looking at reviews on the Lululemon yoga mats, they seem the most griptastic to me and what I would need for my type of practice. I like that the brand recommends the type of yoga for each mat as well
. Great job Lulu!
Any fitness enthusiast that loves to listen to music while doing so, knows that an armband is a necessary item to have. I have a relatively tiny arm circumference, so I had to do some research before purchasing the above for my half marathons. This one is perfect and has great longevity. It doesn’t make your arm overly warm and sweaty either. It was even designed by athletes.
The last gift guide item that I would recommend is a pair of compression socks for runners! These can be great for long distance running, especially when trekking up hills becomes difficult on the shin muscles.

I love my compression socks so much! They’re actually like heaven when I put them on. I often wear them just for funzies too because they make my legs feel so much better! A lululemon yoga mat is on my Christmas list this year for sure. I’ve been slipping and sliding all over my cheap one we got for swimming last year. It’s time to move up to join the big guys!

I for real need a better yoga mat. For something that isn’t high intensity, I still sweat and slip around like CRAZY. And I don’t have a Nike watch on my list, but I do have a Garmin sitting under my tree.
